In May, Laken Blankenship and Mary Denson represented Onward NRV at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s Women’s Leadership Forum in Charlottesville, VA.
Bringing together economic developers from across Virginia and some of the nation’s top site selectors, the forum was a full day of conversation about the site selection process and the future of economic development in Virginia.
The forum covered a range of topics central to site selection, including economic durability, energy capacity, the role of incentives, and what makes a site visit successful. Hearing consultants speak candidly about how they evaluate communities was one of the most valuable parts of the day, offering a direct look at what regions like the New River Valley need to stay competitive. Another highlight was a visit to Barboursville Vineyards, where they heard from a panel of inspiring women in the wine industry on building resilience and adapting to challenges in the business.
Staying connected to the conversations shaping site selection and economic development across the Commonwealth is how Onward NRV continues to build collaborative partnerships and market the New River Valley as a premier destination for life, work, and do business.
