Onward NRV’s Talent and Business Strategies Manager, Laken Blankenship and Investor Relations and Development Coordinator, Mary Denson, recently represented Virginia’s New River Valley at Radford University’s Fall Career Fair and the Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Fall Career Fair.
While engaging with students, Laken and Mary were able to promote the wide range of career opportunities available as well as the exceptional quality of life in the region. Students were encouraged to sign up for Onward’s quarterly student newsletter, “Roots in the Valley” that features actionable insights from human resources and career services professionals, inspiring testimonials from young professionals in the region, and promotes high quality job and internship opportunities. Beyond learning about the students’ career interests, Laken and Mary were also able to test the students’ knowledge of the NRV region using the “spin-it-to-win-it” wheel. Participants could receive highly coveted NRV-branded swag items such as t-shirts, trucker hats, stickers, and reusable bags.
Onward NRV regularly attends career fairs at New River Community College, Radford University, and Virginia Tech as part of their strategic plan to attract and retain talent in an effort to support regional growth.
