Onward NRV Hosts Manufacturing Leaders’ Summit

On March 4, 2023, manufacturing leaders from across the region gathered together at the beautiful Holiday Inn in Christiansburg to network and learn about how onsite occupational health and wellness programs could benefit their companies and their employees.

Niki Hale, Senior Director Occupational Health for Carilion Clinic, and Whitney Long, Director of Wellness Services for Carilion Clinic, spoke on the challenges to having a healthy workforce. They also spoke of the benefits of having an onsite wellness program for the employers and the employees. Rachel Taylor, HR Manager for Corning, followed their presentation by speaking about how Corning’s onsite wellness program has been an asset to both the company and the employees.

Onward NRV hosts Manufacturers Leaders’ Summits twice a year as part of the organization’s five-year strategy to promote economic development in Virginia’s New River Valley.

An overarching goal of the summits is to foster collaboration among our region’s industry leaders as we strive to define common challenges and present opportunities and resources to support the continued growth of the manufacturing industry in the NRV.
