“Tech Jobs in the NRV” campaign aims to attract talent

As part of the Onward 2023 Strategic Plan, Onward NRV released the second phase of their technology industry initiatives.

There are an estimated 800 new jobs in Information Technology (IT) coming to the New River Valley over the next 18 months, which would grow this sector by 50 percent. In order to continue to support our emerging tech industry, we created an in demand career video to showcase the abundant opportunity here in the NRV.

A second video featuring the unique culture of the technology industry was also created.

These videos will be used as part of our strategic digital marketing initiatives to recruit mid-level talent to the region. We will be targeting alumni from Virginia Tech and Radford University to come back and be a part of the thriving technology industry here in the New River Valley. After conducting a focus group with HR Directors from several tech companies in the area, we will focus our message on issues that the current audience is facing such as long commutes, cost of living, and more time to do what they love with their friends or family. Onward NRV will be targeting this audience through paid posts on Facebook directing potential employees to the technology Work Here page where they will be connected with potential employers, more information about the tech culture here, as well as a cost of living comparison that shows them how much more buying power tech professionals in the NRV have.
