Onward NRV partners with local economic development organizations to organize prospect visits, helping potential businesses evaluate the New River Valley as a location for their company. These visits allow our team to highlight the region’s strengths, possible site locations, and showcase local attractions and amenities. We create an engaging experience that helps companies envision their future in our community.
Manufacturing Leaders' Summit
Onward NRV Manufacturing Leaders’ Summits are designed to provide valuable insights and facilitate discussions for regional leaders in the manufacturing sector. These summits bring together industry professionals to address common challenges, share solutions, and foster collaboration across the field. We host two Manufacturing Summits each year, open to both investors and non-investor business leaders.
Tech/IT Leaders' Summit
Onward NRV Tech & IT Leaders’ Summits are structured to offer impactful learning and networking opportunities for professionals in the information technology field. These gatherings encourage industry leaders to connect, exchange ideas, and address mutual challenges across the tech landscape. Each year, two Tech Summits are held, welcoming both investor and non-investor participants to engage in meaningful discussions that drive the sector forward.
FTZ #238
Onward NRV is the grantee of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) #238. This designiation enhances regional competitiveness by deferring or reducing certain duties, providing relief from inverted tariffs, and improving compliance. As a secure, enclosed area near a Port of Entry, an FTZ allows foreign and domestic goods to be stored, processed, or manufactured without immediate customs duties. Duties are only paid when goods enter U.S. commerce, while exports may avoid duties altogether.

Additive Manufacturing & Advanced Materials Tech Hub
Onward is working with a multi-regional partnership of over 50 organizations that received a Strategy Development Grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration Tech Hubs program. Virginia’s AM2 Tech Hub is dedicated to advancing additive manufacturing and advanced materials in the New River Valley and Southern Virginia regions. Learn more about the effort at am2virginia.org.
I-81 Corridor Marketing Group
Onward NRV is partnering with the I-81 Corridor Marketing Group to showcase the unique opportunities in each region along the I-81 roadway to site selectors in the area. In addition to Onward, the group members are the Roanoke Regional Partnership, the Shenandoah Valley Partnership, and the Economic Coalition of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
Future of Talent Summit
Partnering with GO Virginia Region, Radford University, Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council, Roanoke Regional Partnership, New River/Mount Rogers Workforce Development Board, and the Virginia Talent Opportunity Partnership, Onward is helping to produce the annual Future of Talent Summit.
