Onward NRV Joins Regional Leaders on Economic Development Panel

On February 5, 2026, Onward NRV Executive Director Katie Boswell joined regional leaders as a panelist at the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Eggs & Issues discussion on economic development, held at Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg. The conversation focused on the current economic landscape, challenges shaping the New River Valley and Montgomery County, and how economic development efforts support businesses of all sizes across the region.

Katie was joined by Brian Hamilton, Economic Development Director of Montgomery County; Leo Priddy, Economic Development Planning Specialist with the New River Valley Regional Commission; and Erin Burcham, CEO of the Roanoke Blacksburg Innovation Alliance. The conversation was moderated by John Provo, Executive Director of Virginia Tech’s Center for Economic & Community Engagement.

Katie highlighted the work Onward NRV is doing with regional partners, including supporting efforts to increase access to childcare in the NRV, collaborating on the NRV Regional Site Advancement Strategy Grant from GO Virginia, and contributing to the Virginia’s AM2 effort to support advanced manufacturing in GO Virginia Regions 2 and 3.

Eggs & Issues is a monthly program hosted by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, providing a platform for community members to network and engage with local, regional, and state leaders on a variety of important topics. Onward NRV is proud to contribute to these discussions and advocate for initiatives that support the economic vitality of Virginia’s New River Valley.
