Onward NRV Hosts Manufacturing Leaders Summit

On October 4, 2022, manufacturing leaders from across the region gathered together at the beautifully appointed Holiday Inn in Christiansburg to network and learn about how business leaders doing business overseas can benefit from utilizing a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).

Cornelia Steinert, Director of Foreign-Trade Zones Services with John S. James Co, shared how an FTZ can enhance a company’s competitiveness—resulting in best practices creating local jobs and regional investment.

She also discussed the program’s benefits, such as reduced duty payments and streamlined customs procedures.

Onward NRV Executive Director Katie Boswell highlights the organization’s accomplishments over the past year.

Onward NRV hosts Manufacturers Leaders’ Summits twice a year as part of the organization’s five-year strategy to promote economic development in Virginia’s New River Valley.

An over-arching goal of the summits is to foster collaboration among our region’s industry leaders as we strive to define common challenges and present opportunities and resources to support the continued growth of the manufacturing industry in the NRV.
