Onward NRV Hosts Fall 2023 Tech/IT Leaders’ Summit

On October 17, 2023, technology industry leaders from around the New River Valley gathered for a Tech/IT leaders’ summit at Hyatt Place Blacksburg/University. During the summit, a panel of guest speakers addressed issues around the ever-changing world of cybersecurity.

The guest panelists included Jeff Wynn of New River Computing, Jeff Nozenzo of Brown Insurance, and David Filer of New River Community College.

The panelists discussed the importance of cybersecurity and multi factor authentication for passwords. The panelists also discussed the importance of training employees and educating them about fishing, having an intrusion detection and prevention system, and who to contact when you are hit with a cybersecurity breach.

Participants had the opportunity to ask questions about best practices for cybersecurity and get answers to specific issues that they have been facing.

Twice a year, Onward NRV hosts Tech/IT Leaders’ Summits as part of the organization’s five-year strategy to promote economic development in the NRV and support the continued growth of the tech sector in Virginia’s New River Valley.
