Onward Holds Second Annual Elevate NRV Talent Conference

Onward NRV held its second annual Elevate NRV talent micro conference on October 28th, 2024, at the Inn at Virginia Tech, bringing together local business leaders to focus on talent recruitment and retention. This half-day event provided a collaborative space where employers could gain insights into effective practices from industry leaders, equipping them to foster stronger workplace cultures within Virginia’s New River Valley.

Katie Boswell, Executive Director of Onward NRV, kicked off the conference by welcoming attendees and introducing the event’s sponsor, Matt Olinger of FBMC Benefits Management. Matt expressed his appreciation for everyone’s participation, highlighting FBMC’s connection and commitment to the region. He then introduced keynote speaker Justin Yalung, CFO of IV Labs, Inc., whose thought-provoking presentation set the tone for the day.

Justin opened with a powerful question: “Do you enjoy where you work?” This sparked reflection among attendees as he discussed the defining qualities that make IV Labs an attractive place to work and how they prioritize employee engagement. His insights underscored the importance of fostering a positive work culture and provided attendees with inspiration to enhance their own workplace environments.

Following the keynote, participants explored specific topics in breakout sessions, covering areas critical to navigating modern workplace needs. Sessions focused on employee satisfaction, aligning efforts with Gen Z’s values, succession planning, and housing solutions for talent retention.
