Onward Cohosts Manufacturing Interest Webinar

On October 8, Onward New River Valley (Onward NRV) partnered with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) to cohost a free webinar for businesses interested in advanced manufacturing opportunities in Virginia’s New River Valley. The event, titled “The Future is Made Here: Advanced Manufacturing in Virginia’s New River Valley,” gave attendees a closer look at the region’s robust manufacturing industry.

Speakers highlighted the area’s strong business climate, access to skilled talent from nearby universities, and supportive community network. Participants heard directly from Peter Mann, Founder and CEO of Oransi, who shared why Oransi chose to locate in Virginia’s New River Valley. Bart Raeymaekers, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech spoke about the newly established VT MADE program and ways participants can become involved with manufacturing experts at Virginia Tech. Virginia’s Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Materials (AM2) Tech Hub Regional Innovation Officer, Emma Carroll, talked about the 10-year roadmap to grow the region as a global leader in these technologies. Onward NRV Executive Director Katie Boswell also discussed the unique advantages that make the region a natural fit for advanced manufacturing, including its location, infrastructure, and innovative workforce.

As part of its five-year strategic plan, Onward NRV is focused on positioning Virginia’s New River Valley as a leading location for sustainable economic growth. This long-term strategy aims to attract new businesses, support existing ones, and strengthen the region’s diverse industries. Hosting educational webinars like this helps showcase the NRV as a prime destination for business success.
