Onward Represents the NRV at Local Public Schools
Onward NRV recently had the opportunity to engage with the next generation of talent at career fairs held in Pulaski and Floyd counties. On October 18th, staff joined Pulaski County’s Construction Day Career Fair at Pulaski County Middle School, followed by the Floyd County Career Fair at Floyd County High School on October 25th. These events allowed Onward to connect with students who are exploring career possibilities and considering future pathways, all while showcasing the wide range of opportunities available here in Virginia’s New River Valley.
In Pulaski, Talent Strategies Coordinator Max Davenport shared with students at Pulaski County Middle School about the benefits of staying in the New River Valley. At the Floyd County Career Fair, Senior Director of Business Engagement Samantha Livesay joined Max to engage the students with questions about the region and encouraged them to consider their future in the NRV.
Onward NRV was able to introduce its young residents to the many paths available to them locally in the fields of advanced manufacturing, technology information, uncrewed systems, and food processing and agribusiness. The students also received NRV merchandise to proudly represent their region.
Attending local career fairs for K-12 in the region coincides with Onward NRV’s strategic plan goals to attract and retain talent to support regional growth and to spread brand awareness throughout the NRV.
