Onward NRV Hosts 2023 Summer Investor Reception at Highlander Hotel

Onward NRV hosted their investors at the newly opened Highlander Hotel in the City of Radford for a delightful Summer Investor Reception on June 8th. The reception was sponsored by Skyline National Bank. The beautiful views from the hotel’s rooftop were a great backdrop for the event that focused on the Onward NRV’s new 5-year strategic plan , Onward 2028.

Scott Blankenship, Onward NRV’s Chair, welcomed elected officials, board members, investors, and guests to the event. Scott took a few moments to speak about his service to Onward and welcomed the incoming Chair of the Board of Directors, Mark Woolwine.

Executive Director Katie Boswell spoke next, thanking Scott for his service and support of Onward NRV. Katie then turned the mic over to sponsors Skyline National Bank, who spoke about their dedication to the region and shared about the services that they have available to the community.

Katie returned to the podium to give a campaign update on Onward 2028, the organization’s five-year strategy for economic development in the region, which will begin on July 1st, 2023. She was excited to announce that Onward NRV reached 73% of their $2 million private sector fundraising goal prior to the event. Katie recognized those who served on the Campaign Cabinet and asked the Campaign Co-Chairs, New River Community College President, Dr. Pat Huber, and CEO of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Bill Flattery, to say a few words about why their organizations choose to invest in Onward NRV. She also highlighted the 68 investors who have committed so far in the 2023-28 campaign, thanking them for their partnership in the economic success of the New River Valley.
