Winter Social Recap

Onward NRV set a winter event attendance record with 77 attendees at the Winter Investor Social. A small snafu named Mother Nature required a quick change of plans. Originally scheduled to take place at Sinkland Farms, the snow storm of 2018 rendered our plans impossible. Instead, we took over the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center Concept Conference Room and had a holiday office party.

Melody Warnick, author of This Is Where You Belong: Finding Home Wherever You Are, provided a keynote presentation about Placemaking. Placemaking is the concept of capitalizing on a community’s assets, inspiration, and potential with the intention of promoting people’s health, happiness, and well being. Placemaking heavily contributes to why people love where they live. Supporting placemaking is one of the major pillars in the Onward 2023 five-year strategy.

The Onward NRV Winter Social was sponsored by Inorganic Ventures. President Chris Gaines presented a wonderful overview of the company and a message in support of Onward NRV. Thank you to Inorganic Ventures for their generous support!

The event also served as a platform to reveal that Onward NRV has reached 98% of the Onward 2023 five-year fundraising goal! Thank you to all of our investors, campaign volunteers, and supporters. Work on the new long-term strategy has already begun and there is plenty more to come.

Charles Bopp, a former member of the Onward NRV Board of Directors was recognized at the event for over six years of commitment and leadership dedicated to the economic growth and development of Virginia’s New River Valley.

Onward NRV’s quarterly investor events are a great way to stay up-to-date on what’s happening in Virginia’s New River Valley and at Onward NRV. They’ve also become great networking opportunities for our investors and guests.
