This website is provided by New River Valley Economic Development Alliance, doing business as Onward New River Valley (“Onward New River Valley,” “Onward NRV” or “we”), a non-profit organization dedicated to marketing Virginia’s New River Valley as a premier region to live and do business.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”). This policy described the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit www.onwardnrv.org (the “Site”). By using the website, or by registering as a user of the services that we provide, you are indicating that you agree to the use of your information as outlined below.

Accordingly, we suggest that you read this Privacy Policy carefully and contact us at info@onwardnrv.org with any questions or concerns you may have. Also, please note that we may change our privacy policy from time to time. We therefore ask that you check this page routinely to ensure that you are aware of the most recent version that will apply when you access this Site. Your continued use of this Site after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes.

By using our Site, you consent to the collection, use, and storage of your personal and non-personal information as described in this policy. You further authorize the export of personal information to the USA and its storage and use as specified in this policy when you provide such information to us. This policy and all legal obligations of Onward NRV are subject to the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States of America, regardless of the location of any user.

Personal or Professional Information Collection and Use

Onward New River Valley may collect and store personally identifiable information, such as your name or email address, when it is voluntarily submitted to us through this website. Our organization and the companies we hire will use this information to comply with your requests for more information or as otherwise disclosed to you when you submit your information. From time to time, we may refer to the information provided to better understand your needs, better target our services, and understand how we can improve our offerings to fit the profiles of our customers. We also may use the information provided to contact you. We will not otherwise transfer the personally identifiable information you provide at this website to any third party unless otherwise disclosed. Onward New River Valley may also collect and store aggregate or anonymous information about user contact with and use of the Site.

Cookies

When you enter the Site as a visitor, we may send your web browser a “cookie,” a small data file that’s stored on your hard drive, to help us provide you with more customized service. We do not use cookies to retrieve personal information from your computer. You can remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser if you want to disable this convenience feature or by clicking the red circle at the bottom left corner of the Site, which links to a page that allows you to customize your cookie consent preferences.  Information obtained in connection with the Site may be intermingled with and used by us in conjunction with information obtained through sources other than the Site, including both offline and online sources. We may use the aggregate or anonymous information we collect about our customers, traffic patterns, and related site information to better design our Site and to share with reputable third-party vendors.

Google Analytics

When someone visits this Site we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. We do this to find out information such as the number of visitors to various parts of our Site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify any visitor to our Site. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our Site. Opt-out or Update

Information Sharing

We will not share your personal information with any third parties except as described in this privacy policy. Onward NRV also does not sell your personal information with third parties for marketing, sales or other purposes.  Onward NRV shares your information with third parties only in the limited circumstances described below, in which Onward NRV believes that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to provide a service, is legally required or is permitted by you.

  • Onward NRV may provide information to Onward NRV’s own employees and service providers to help us operate the Site.  This type of sharing may include disclosures to third parties who host the Site, help deliver e-mail updates or otherwise provide back-end services.  These providers will only be able to use such information subject to Onward NRV’s rights to do so and only for purposes of performing the services that Onward NRV contracts with them to provide on Onward NRV’s behalf. 
  • Onward NRV may be required to disclose personal information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. We do not reveal information unless we have a good faith belief that an information request by law enforcement or private litigants meets applicable legal standards.
  • We may share personal information when we believe it is necessary to comply with law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through the Site, or to prevent imminent harm to any person or group of people.  This may include sharing information with other companies, lawyers, agents or government agencies.
  • In the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Onward NRV’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, your registration information may be transferred to the successor-in-interest so that the Site can continue to operate.  If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our Site of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.


Security

We are committed to taking reasonable steps to ensure the security of your information. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put into place appropriate physical, and electronic procedures to safeguard and secure information we collect online.

However, you should keep in mind that no Internet communication is ever completely secure or error-free. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Site. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Site.

Children Under Age 16

Protecting the privacy of young children, specifically children under the age of 16, is especially important to Onward NRV. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 16 or knowingly allow such persons to register. No part of our Site is structured to attract anyone under the age of 16.

If you are under 16, please do not attempt to register for the Site or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 16 may provide any personal information to or on the Site.  In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

If a child has provided us with personal information, we ask that a parent or guardian of the child notify us by contacting us at info@onwardnrv.org and we will immediately delete the information from our database.

The Onward NRV Site contains links to many other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites, including any websites that may indicate a special relationship or partnership with Onward NRV (such as co-branded pages or “powered by” or “in cooperation with” relationships). Onward NRV does not disclose personally identifiable information or unique identifiers to those responsible for the linked sites. The linked sites, however, may collect personal information from you that is not subject to Onward NRV’s control.
