Onward NRV Hosts Fall 2020 Investor Live Stream Event

Onward New River Valley hosted their Fall 2020 Investor Event on Thursday, September 17, 2020. This event was the first that Onward NRV hosted in an exclusively virtual format, which allowed investors the opportunity to watch via live stream on YouTube. The event was filmed at COgro, the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center’s co-working space.

James Cabler, Director of Business Engagement, began the event by welcoming viewers, thanking Onward NRV’s Board of Directors and Investors, and showing a video from The Orange Bandana, the event’s sponsor.

Charlie Jewell, Executive Director, then awarded the 2020 Regional Impact Awards to four companies in the region. The awards celebrate companies that are investing in and creating new jobs in Virginia’s New River Valley. Learn more about the awards and the 2020 winners here.

Charlie then recapped the 2020 NRV Experience and shared the progress of Onward NRV’s “NRV Outdoors: Find Your Escape” digital marketing campaign. The final aspect of Charlie’s presentation discussed the status of unemployment in the New River Valley due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the main portion of the event, Dr. Brett Malone, the new President and CEO of the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, joined Charlie for a chat over coffee. They discussed Brett’s background, the current state of the CRC, and the vision for the research park in the future. There was also a session where Onward NRV investors could submit their questions for Brett to answer.
