NRV Experience 2024 Wraps Up at Long Way Brewing

Onward NRV hosted a Wrap-Up Event for the NRV Experience 2024 at Long Way Brewing in Radford on August 1, 2024. The event brought together interns and employers who participated in this year’s cohort. There was a chance for interns to network with their employers, young professional groups and Onward NRV investors. Interns who attended at least six of the eight events over the summer were given certificates of completion for the program. Onward awarded 31 certificates of completion, making for the largest cohort graduation in the 5 years of the program.

The NRV Experience is an eight-week long summer curriculum designed to support employer internship programs by helping their interns grow professionally while also experiencing the full benefits of living and working in Virginia’s New River Valley. It is an initiative through Onward NRV’s five-year economic development strategy for the region. The goal of the NRV Experience is to increase the number of young professionals living and working in the region post-graduation by exposing the participants to the wide variety of cultural, recreational, and outdoor amenities available across the NRV.

Virginia’s New River Valley: Virginia’s New River Valley is an eclectic mix of interconnected small towns that each offer their own unique vibe and appeal. The region provides an abundance of cultural and social offerings due to the presence of three world-class universities, while retaining the charm and benefits of small town living. The NRV is home to a diverse and innovative business community with companies that range from high-tech startups to foreign-based corporations to specialty agribusiness. These organizations benefit from the collaborative spirit of our region and a loyal, highly-skilled, and educated workforce.
