Blacksburg Transit Bus Wrap Markets the Livability of the NRV

Onward New River Valley worked this summer to successfully wrap a Blacksburg Transit bus with Virginia’s New River Valley marketing messaging. The bus design, created by Uncork-It, Inc. and installed by Signspot, encourages Virginia Tech students and Hokie football fans to make the region home by finding their careers and their communities in the NRV.

Individuals from across the region are featured on both sides of the bus. Their pictures are included within the signature river stone designs of the Virginia’s New River Valley brand. The driver’s side of the bus calls for viewers to “Make This Home: Find Your Community”, and the curb side of the bus calls for viewers to “Make This Home: Find Your Career”. The back of the bus features a large Virginia’s New River Valley logo as well as a call to action to “Make This Home”. All sides encourage people to explore TheNRV.org/live-here where visitors can learn about the communities, amenities, and cost of living in the region.

This unique marketing initiative aligns with Goal 2 (Talent) and Goal 3 (Placemaking) of Onward NRV’s five-year strategy. The purpose of the bus wrap is to attract and retain talent in the NRV by promoting the region as a great place to live and work to Virginia Tech students. Another goal of the campaign is to increase brand awareness of the Virginia’s New River Valley brand.

The NRV bus will be making its way around Blacksburg on all BT routes over the next year. Make sure to look for it the next time you are out and about in Blacksburg!
