Onward NRV Hosts Tech Leaders’ Summit on Talent Retention and Recruitment
The Great Resignation to The Great Retention was the topic for Onward NRV’s virtual Tech/IT Leaders’ Summit on November 9th, 2021.
Technology industry leaders from around the NRV joined the panelists, Jackie Lackey with Ideagen (formerly Qualtrax) and Marcia Elliott with Radford University, to learn and discuss solutions to retain and recruit talent during these turbulent times.
During the virtual summit, attendees:
- Saw staggering statistics representing the nationwide Great Resignation: In September, 4.4 million people left their jobs, according to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- Were challenged with reevaluating priorities and benefits: It’s not about the ping pong table or jeans on Fridays. Employers need to ask and listen to their employees and their needs to retain and recruit. When employees feel they are heard and supported from their employers, retention is higher resulting in less turnover.
- Learned that revamping job descriptions can create a large impact: Overhauling job descriptions is a small change that can yield high impact when recruiting new employees. Employers need to keep their ideal candidate in the forefront so the job posting will stand out and be attractive.
