Onward NRV Hosts Summer Investor Social at Sinkland Farms

Onward New River Valley hosted their Summer Investor Social at Sinkland Farms on Thursday, July 16, 2020. This event was the first that Onward NRV hosted in a hybrid format, which allowed investors the opportunity to attend the event either in person or via live stream on YouTube.

Charlie Jewell, Executive Director of Onward NRV, began the event by discussing the economic impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on Virginia’s New River Valley. He also highlighted the progress of the NRV Experience, an initiative through the Onward 2023 five-year strategy that is designed to enhance the experiences of students completing summer internships in Virginia’s New River Valley.

The featured speaker for the event was Dr. Noelle Bissell, Health Director of the New River Health District. Dr. Bissell spoke about the health district’s role in the COVID-19 pandemic response. She also took questions at the end of her presentation to allow the attendees to learn more about the status of the COVID-19 pandemic in the NRV.
