Onward NRV Speaks at VT Local Employer Summit

Director of Business Engagement, James Cabler, recently spoke at the Virginia Tech Career and Professional Development Local Employer Summit. As part of the local employment community panel, James had the opportunity to share with over 26 companies and organizations how Onward NRV is committed to bringing and retaining talent in the community. He shared Onward NRV’s response to the GO Virginia Talent Study in addition to plans that have been laid out to address those issues such as a summer internship program.

VT Career and Professional Development provided information on how to structure a meaningful internship that will benefit both student and employer as well as insight into how to engage with VT regarding internships. The summit also provided the opportunity for employers to learn best practices and speak directly with individual Colleges, including the College of Engineering, College of Science, College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences, and the College of Business, to understand how to match the degree to type of internships that are available. The program wrapped up by covering speed topics on student readiness, Handshake, offer polices, and more.
